Objectives

Objectives
The objectives of the project are:
(i)To create and develop the wireless remote control power socket that controls the switching of the socket remotely.
(ii)To avoids the risk of electric shock if a user touches a switch with wet hands, and allows switching apparatus from a location without a wired switch..
(iii)To program the wireless remote control power socket by using MPLAB-IDE software.


Scope of Study
The scope of the study are:
(i)The remote controller can only control three power sockets.
(ii)The distance of transmission is about 50 meter only because of the low cost RF module.
(iii)This wireless remote control power socket is a prototype and might not perfect in design and beauty.

Abstract

Many people are worried about their house when they are in distance with their home. They maybe worried about the elcetric equipment in the house. In this project, the Dual Tone Modulation Frequency (DTMF) has been developed to solve the problem in controlling the home appliance from distance. There are some improvement has been made in this project. Regular DTMF system is activating electrical device that only connect or being wired to the DTMF socket. Therefore, this project will make the electrical device that far away from the DTMF can be activated. Thus,this project use a transmitter and receiver to send and receive information to swith On or OFF an electrical device. There are two separate circuit board with a microcontroller (PIC16F876A)each. One board is for transmitter while another is for receiver. Therefore, the main focus is to study the signal transmitter and receiver which are capable of sending sequence of number at regular interval in DTMF format to swith ON or OFF various electrical devices.

Block diagram of remote controller system.



The main principle of offered system operation has been shown above. The central unit of this system is PIC based remote control circuit which will be called as controller. This controller detects the number of ringing, then decodes DTMF signal and then checks pin numbers which are entered. When the pin numbers have been entered correctly, the controller gives to right to control devices. Both pin numbers and orders to control appliance have been transmitted via telephone line or electromagnetic waves as DTMF signal.
